Update: This post was updated on June 15, 2016, to reflect the results of the 2016 SC Magazine Europe Awards.

I am thrilled to share with you the fantastic news that IBM won two coveted awards at the 2016 SC Magazine Europe Awards last week:

  • The Best Security Company
  • The Best Mobile Security Solution with IBM MaaS360

IBM was also highly commended for:

  • Best Identity Management Solution with IBM Identity Governance and Intelligence
  • Best SIEM Solution with IBM QRadar SIEM

This is a tremendous achievement and one that we are extremely proud of! This also represents a milestone in the short history of the IBM Security business and is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate IBM’s leadership and excellence within the industry.

The exact words from the judging panel were: “The winner here is considered the leader across the security landscape in unrivaled solutions in end-to-end security.  The best security company is… IBM.”

The ceremony took place at Old Billingsgate, where IBM hosted a table with guests from Cap Gemini, Adrian Asher, ex-HSBC, and John Bruce, CEO of Resilient Systems. I was also pleased to present Ian West, NATO Communications and Information Security, with the CISO of the Year Award.

A Continuing Tradition of Excellence

Overall, this is a huge achievement, and one that demonstrates just how far our business has come over the last year alone. In 2015, our security business grew 12 percent, outpacing the growth of pure-play security competitors that have traditionally dominated this market. IBM manages 35 billion security events every day for 12,000-plus clients around the world.

We are gaining great momentum as the world’s fastest-growing enterprise security business. This is due to our unique capability to help clients implement an intelligent immune system that provides an active defense across their business.

IBM Security has been short-listed as a finalist in six categories at the 2016 SC Magazine Europe Awards. This is a fantastic achievement that illustrates IBM’s tremendous growth in the security industry in recent years.

Our focus on providing clients with integrated, industry-leading solutions could be why IBM was short-listed as a finalist in more categories than any other organization.

Taking the SC Awards by Storm

Last year, IBM was proud to win the 2015 SC Award for Best Fraud Prevention Solution with IBM Trusteer and to be selected as a finalist for the Best Identity Management Solution.

Now, just one year down the line, IBM Security has been short-listed as a finalist in six categories:

  • Best Security Company
  • Best SIEM Solution: IBM QRadar SIEM
  • Best Cloud Computing Security Solution: IBM Security Cloud Enforcer
  • Best Computer Forensics Solution: IBM QRadar Incident Forensics
  • Best Identity Management Solution: IBM Identity Governance and Intelligence
  • Best Mobile Security Solution: IBM MaaS360 Enterprise Mobility Management

We are also delighted to see IBM Resilient Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) Platform short-listed in the Best Emerging Technology category for its Incident Response Platform.

The winners of each category will be announced at the SC Awards dinner in London on June 7, 2016.

What does resilience in the cyber world look like in 2025 and beyond?

6 min read -  Back in 2021, we ran a series called “A Journey in Organizational Resilience.” These issues of this series remain applicable today and, in many cases, are more important than ever, given the rapid changes of the last few years. But the term "resilience" can be difficult to define, and when we define it, we may limit its scope, missing the big picture. In the age of generative artificial intelligence (gen AI), the prevalence of breach data from infostealers and the near-constant…
