Google recently announced the launch of a security center for G Suite to make it easier for IT decision-makers to tighten their grip on data protection. The tool, which will be available to G Suite enterprise customers in the next few days, gives executives access to cybersecurity analytics. The security center also provides insight into errant behavior and advice to help security managers assert more control over information management practices.

An ever-growing number of organizations use G Suite for productivity tasks. The introduction of cybersecurity analytics will provide a boost for anyone looking to reduce the threat of external attacks.

New Cybersecurity Analytics Offer Key Insights

In the official press release, Google noted that the tool provides a “bird’s eye view” of security, allowing users to detect suspicious device activity. The tool focuses on three key security areas: metrics, threats and security health.

In terms of metrics, the security center provides information on errant behavior, insights into how spam affects the business and a dashboard that shows an integrated view on security effectiveness.

When it comes to threats, the tool gives administrators the ability to analyze red flags. Managers can even view which employees are being targeted by potential phishing threats. By notifying managers when access to Google Drive initiates data loss prevention rules, the security center can help organizations avoid data exfiltration.

The center also provides security health recommendations to help businesses investigate their current security stance and take advantage of data management best practice. These tips may address areas such as file sharing, data storage and mobility settings.

The security health feature also outlines which business units have either enabled or disabled security settings and which units might be at risk of infiltration. Administrators can use this tool to analyze Gmail, Google Drive and device settings, and to ensure that two-factor authentication is enabled.

Getting Started

Organizations looking to take advantage of the security center should sign in to their administrator console, click security and then enter the dashboard to view key security metrics. Google provided instructions to help managers begin using the tool’s features.

According to the press release, over 3.5 million organizations now use G Suite to collaborate across enterprise tasks. Adding these security measures will come as welcome news to security teams that rely on Google’s productivity tools.

What does resilience in the cyber world look like in 2025 and beyond?

6 min read -  Back in 2021, we ran a series called “A Journey in Organizational Resilience.” These issues of this series remain applicable today and, in many cases, are more important than ever, given the rapid changes of the last few years. But the term "resilience" can be difficult to define, and when we define it, we may limit its scope, missing the big picture. In the age of generative artificial intelligence (gen AI), the prevalence of breach data from infostealers and the near-constant…

Airplane cybersecurity: Past, present, future
